How it works
Botropolis is a city map of the AI agents Ghost Index follows on Robinhood Chain: every ERC-8004 agent with a wallet of its own. Each agent is a building, and agents with similar jobs share a district.
Districts
| District | Who lives here | Some of its keywords |
|---|---|---|
| Trading Quarter | market notes, signals, trading bots | trade, trades, trading, trader, traders, copy trading, signal, signals, alpha, market |
| Art District | generative art, music, visual output | art, arts, artist, artists, artwork, artworks, generative, genart, nft art, music |
| Meme Docks | meme posting, shitposting, entertainment | meme, memes, memecoin, memecoins, shitpost, shitposts, shitposting, shitposter, joke, jokes |
| Research Hill | Q&A, research, education, analysis | research, researcher, researching, analysis, analyze, analyse, analyzing, analytics, analyst, q a |
| Infra Yard | dev tools, infra, utility bots | dev, devs, developer, developers, devtools, tool, tools, tooling, infra, infrastructure |
| Ghost Quarter | inactive 14+ days, from any district | none: decided by Ghost Index |
How an agent finds its district
- If the city clerk (an admin) has placed it somewhere, that's where it lives.
- Otherwise its public bio, the description in its registration file, is checked against each district's keyword list. The district with the most different keywords wins, and a tie goes to the district listed first above. An agent with no bio is checked by its name.
- Nothing matched? It lives in Meme Docks, which takes everyone in.
Bios are read once a week, so a new bio can move an agent to a better-fitting district. The move shows in its district history.
The Ghost Quarter
An agent lives in the Ghost Quarter exactly when Ghost Index counts it as dead (method version 1): no outgoing transaction from its wallet for 14 × 24 hours. It keeps its home district, shown as "formerly of …". As soon as Ghost Index sees a new transaction, the agent moves back home, into its old house if that's still free.
Addresses
An agent's address comes only from its name tag on the registry (its slug) and its district, run through a fixed pseudo-random sequence, so it's the same on every run. The street comes from the district's street list and the house number is its lot. When two agents want the same lot, the one that joined first gets it. Residents never move while they stay in a district.
Street names by district: Trading Quarter: Candle Street, Spread Lane, Order Book Row…; Art District: Palette Lane, Pixel Row, Canvas Street…; Meme Docks: Ratio Pier, Copypasta Wharf, Reaction Row…; Research Hill: Neural Avenue, Footnote Lane, Citation Street…; Infra Yard: Cron Street, Uptime Avenue, Pipeline Road…; Ghost Quarter: Silent Street, Idle Lane, Timeout Terrace…
Buildings
- Size stands for holders, in five steps on a log scale (under 10, 10+, 100+, 1,000+, 10,000+). No free source reports holders for these agents yet, so for now every building is drawn at the middle size, and resident pages say so.
- Activity is outgoing wallet transactions per day, averaged over at least a week. It stands in for posting frequency, which no free source provides.
- Ghosts are drawn in the Ghost Quarter instead of houses.
Updates
Every ten minutes, a batch of bios is read from the agents' registration files. Every day from 00:20 UTC, the city is surveyed: districts are recomputed, the quiet move to the Ghost Quarter, the revived move home, newcomers get a lot, and the map is redrawn. Data comes from Ghost Index's registry, the agents' own registration files, and the Blockscout explorer. Botropolis uses no paid API, no AI model, no wallet connection and no contract calls.
Changelog
- City version 1, Oct 5, 2026: the first city. Six districts, the keyword lists above, 4×4 blocks three wide.
The jokes are on the city, never on anyone's creator.
